Legacy of Freight, Permanent Exhibit
(opened Dec 2022)

Legacy of Freight explores the history of the Haskell & Barker Car Company, which shaped Michigan City’s freight rail industry from the 1830s to the early 1900s. Through historic photos, stories of workers, and a detailed scale model of the factory, the exhibit highlights the company’s lasting impact on industry and community.

The 90s: The Last Decade before the Future (Nov 2024-Oct 2025)

The 90s invites visitors to relive a pivotal era as they journey year-by-year through the 1990s—from landmark events like the fall of the Berlin Wall and Y2K anxieties to the rise of cell phones, the internet, and Denver's economic growth—with immersive displays of pop-culture icons, artifacts, and a recreated Blockbuster video store.

Danielle SeeWalker: But We Have Something to Say (Feb 2024-Sept 2024)

But We Have Something to Say presents bold contemporary Native art that reclaims stories too often overlooked. Pairing SeeWalker’s striking, neon-toned works with historic objects from History Colorado’s collection and text in Lakota, the exhibit invites visitors to experience powerful expressions of identity, resilience, and cultural pride.

Flow: On the River with John Fielder (Jan 2024-Jan 2025)

Flow celebrates Colorado’s rivers through the breathtaking large-format images of renowned photographer John Fielder, from the Yampa to the Dolores. The exhibit highlights Fielder’s artistry and his lifelong commitment to conservation.

Winter Warriors: the 10th Mountain Division in WWII (Nov 2023-Oct 2024)

Winter Warriors takes visitors on a powerful, multi-sensory journey—from rigorous mountain training at Camp Hale in Colorado to daring alpine combat in the Apennines—using artifacts, personal photographs, video, and stories to bring the soldiers’ experiences vividly to life.

Where is Denver's Chinatown? Stories Remembered, Reclaimed, Reimagined (Oct 2024-Aug 2025)

Where is Denver’s Chinatown? uncovers the history and erasure of Denver’s once-thriving Chinatown through photographs, artifacts, oral histories, and reimagined architectural models. Created in partnership with UC Denver’s College of Architecture and Planning and community collaborators, the exhibit honors Chinese American stories while inviting visitors to envision a more inclusive future for the city.

Through the Lens: The Photography of Frank Muramoto (Oct 2023-Oct 2024)

Through the Lens highlights the work of Japanese-born photographer Frank Muramoto, who documented life in southern Colorado from the 1920s to 1950s. His portraits, landscapes, and community scenes offer a rare, inclusive record of everyday life, particularly within Pueblo’s Asian American community.
